it gives you all of the chairmanship s. gives us the ability to subpoena, to look into the administration. oversight and all of it. and so yeah things will change. let s bring in elena tree, congressional reporter for axios. welcome and what does it say to you about the incoming majority that they re calling for all of these investigations right off of the bat? well alex we knew this was coming and they have been meticulously planning these investigations for months now. and they re all greenlit by kevin mccarthy was expected if he can reach 218 votes to become the next house speaker. and there are so many, i mean one thing that i ve talked with a lot of republicans on the hill about is there are so many different investigations that they want to launch. some people have probably admitted that they will only have so many resources and time to get through all of them. the ones that you laid out are really the priorities for them. tim jordan, he is expected to be the next chairman of
the founder of him and people like, are expecting to be rewarded in many ways. some of these prime seats on these committees. that is far right, however not every member of the gop houses on board with these biden investigations. let s take a listen to that. i am not interested in playing tit-for-tat. i m not interested and retaliation. impeachment has been weaponized over the years and we have seen that. i really want us to be focus on the economy. we need to get things done on behalf of the american people and the residents of each of our districts who sent us here. my constituents not send me here to waste time, they sent me her to work. although there are the party and parts of the party want to go into these investigations, that is their prerogative. i m here to deliver results, i m here to deliver prosperity. i m here to defend the american dream. what are the chances of those massive just getting through the gop leadership? it s a great question alex in the, now it i
