Bernie Rabik: Some bishops want to deny Biden Holy Communion

Let’s see if I have this straight. A group of conservative bishops is spending its time and resources thinking up a way by which it can prevent President Biden, a devout Catholic, from receiving the sacrament of the Eucharist.
Biden, a practicing Catholic, who regularly attends Mass and invokes his faith frequently as a guiding principle, is only the second Catholic person to hold the presidency after John F. Kennedy.
This is not the first time the bishops have challenged a practicing Catholic who supports abortion rights. Former Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts was targeted by conservative bishops, some of whom even criticized Boston’s archbishop for presiding over Sen. Ted Kennedy’s funeral Mass.
The weaponised Eucharist
The debate among American bishops around whether President Biden and other Catholic politicians should be denied Holy Communion because of their policies on abortion is an important and unsettling one. Let me say at the start that I think it would be a tragedy if the bishops were to venture down this path.
