attack on the capitol. take a listen. you were the intended target. the assailant has told police in a sworn affidavit that he wanted to take you hostage, interrogate you, break your kneecaps with a hammer if you didn t give the answers. for me, this is really the hard part. paul was not the target. he is the one who is paying the price. we all, our but he s one that s really paying the price. it s really sad because, it is a flame that was fueled by misinformation. it s the most unfortunate, it has no place in our democracy. president biden drew a line on what happened on january six.
congressional races, senate races. there have been former republicans that have flipped over during the trump era and perhaps, during the cycle as well. before we go, angelo, last week, the former president went on a tirade on his social media platform, he posted 88 times in a 24-hour period. most of them referencing far-right conspiracy theories. including qanon. what worries you about trump continuing to elevate these conspiracy? qanon is one and the same they are prescription for how to deal with a current scenario. they believe they re fighting demons. that is what made me so nervous about the right-wing media s reaction to president biden s speech. they started using the language of qanon. they are really falling following the cues that trump stirred up this week when he we tweeted that, pushing the qanon conspiracies. that concerns me. qanon has a record of violence
after biden gave a primetime speech last week and philly, trying a clear line between maga and mainstream republicans. and this morning, just hours after donald trump muddy the waters, claiming biden was targeting all republicans, democrats hit the sunday shows to separate the facts from trump s fiction. the mainstream republicans and democrats agree on things like, it s wrong to attack the united states capitol, to spread a pernicious a lie about the election being stolen, to steal our nation secret and keep them at mar-a-lago. republicans and democrats are in large part in agreement. it s the maga movement that is extreme. speaking of motel mar-a-lago, trump is offering increasingly outlandish excuses for his massive stash of classified documents. one of his latest, he says he wanted those records for his presidential library. as if it wouldn t be worse to put operate secret records on
speech. is one, whether you re a fox news viewer, i talk radio listener, you are hearing the exact same thing. so, they re calling a satanic. they are saying that joe biden was encouraging or trying to incite violence. they are warning of false flags. this is universal. they are springing up conspiracies. they re giving a wink and a nod to some of the qanon conspiracy theories. but they are all saying the same thing. that s the first thing that i think is sort of disturbing and notable. they are in lockstep here. the second thing that i think is notable is this. they are not willing to accept a distinction that president biden drew. so, when you carve out a segment and says, these sort of extremists are the real part of the problem, the same way that we would ve talked about, say, the charlottesville riders, what the right-wing media says it is, it s all of us. we are all one in the same. i think that s the important takeaway here.
wealthy voters don t vote. one reason is, nobody talks to us. politics shouldn t don t come where we are. they talk about the middle class and the wealthy. they don t talk about poverty. secondly, you know that biden and harris got 53% of low income voters in the last election. we know in every state, where the victory was within 3%, poor and low wealthy voters made up 45% of the electorate. we know for instance in states like north carolina and florida and georgia and michigan, four and lowell voters who did not vote, they just voted between one and 19% more than voted in 2020, they could determine who sits in the presidents who sits in the senate this is serious business. we cannot write off 140 million people. we cannot write off 45% of the electorate. but in order to not write them off, we must sweep them in.
