According to officials aware of the development, Larsen & Toubro and Advanced Weapons & Equipment India Ltd (AWEIL) of Kanpur are the other participants in bidding for developing and supplying this weapon. AWEIL is among the seven new defence public sector undertakings formed by converting the Ordnance Factories. "The bidders need to prepare a prototype of the weapon and then get it approved before the award of contract," a senior government official told ET. The estimated contract value is around ₹6,500 crore.
