Unity Requires Love

Unity Requires Love 23 Mar Injustice, hate crimes, prejudice, biases, discrimination, conflict, deceitfulness …these are the ways of our world. The Bible warned us we would have trouble in the world, and reminds of the sin running rampant in it …but it still makes me sad. I can’t image the gravity to which it grieves the heart of God to see His children, created to live in harmony, tearing each other a part. Paul wrote to the Ephesians of unity in the church, and within the body of Christ we are taking swings at each other. It’s hard to camp out in anyone’s corner when no one seems to be getting along.

A Hallelujah! | Adventist World

5 Min Read “Now I’ve heard there was a secret chord That David played, and it pleased the Lord But you don’t really care for music, do you?” And so begins the first three beautiful lines of what is considered to be Leonard Cohen’s most famous song, “Hallelujah,” covered by more than a thousand recording artists in scores of languages. 1 Canadian poet, folk-rock musician, and novelist, Cohen was the son of Jewish immigrants from Lithuania and Poland, whose Old Testament religious background suffused his writing. In “Hallelujah,” the lyrics go on to include reference to one of the most poignant moments in the life of David, the son of Jesse, and possibly in the entire Jewish scripture: his adulterous encounter with Bathsheba:

Ministry Magazine | The last word of the book of Daniel

The last word of the book of Daniel It is not news to students of the Bible that the book of Daniel was written in two ancient languages, Hebrew and Aramaic. Daniel starts the book in Hebrew but, beginning with Daniel 2:4, he shifts to Aramaic and continues in it until the end of chapter 7. Then, beginning with chapter 8, he resumes in Hebrew. However, when it comes to the very last word of the book, we discover something interesting. Daniel starts the last word in Hebrew but adds to it an Aramaic ending. It appears as if in the last word, he tries to connect the two languages employed in the book. Some scholars have argued that Daniel was probably tired and just by mistake connected the two languages, something easily done by people proficient in two or more languages. However, the big question remains: Could it be that Daniel intentionally added an Aramaic plural ending to a Hebrew word?

What Does it Mean to Confess Your Sins to One Another in James 5?

Meg Bucher Writer and Author 2021 14 Jan “Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.”  The miracle of salvation is that God involves us in His eternal plan. The only way we become righteous people is through Christ Jesus. We lay down the pursuits of the world and instead follow Him home to eternity. The life-long path of discipleship isn’t easy, as many biblical people recorded in their pursuit of holiness on this earth. Every day we face our humanity, which exists under the curse of sin. We cannot fully shake it this side of heaven, and so Jesus made a way for us, through Him, to confess our sins and stand in the presence of our Holy God. Confessing our sins leads to healing and restoration, both attributes are worth seeking.
