A misconception about how Canadian food banks operate combined with some misleading information on social media has led to a sudden increase inĀ usage among international students at London, Ont.'s food bank, and at others in Canada.
The USC voted to redistribute $18,000 of funding split between Food Support Services, grants and early outreach, in lieu of hiring governance and clubs policy coordinators.
The food bank reported a more than 50 per cent increase in use between 2021 and 2022, with more than 1,000 students using the walk-in service last year.
