Bhayandar: 15 people stuck in elevator at supermarket rescued after 2.5 hours

Bhayandar, were rescued by Fire Brigade officials on Sunday evening.
According to preliminary information provided by Fire Brigade officials of
Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC), the incident took place in
Dmart, near Maxus mall, in Bhayandar West.
The officials were alerted at around 7:45 pm and a team of fire brigade personnel immediately rushed to the spot.
After a marathon struggle of nearly 2.5 hours, at around 10 pm, 15 people were rescued.
A one-and-a-half-year-old boy, including two other children aged 11 and three years, was also stuck in the lift.

After nearly a month,
Mira Bhayandar reported over 50 coronavirus cases in a single day. According to the latest update shared by the
Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (
MBMC), the twin cities reported 53 fresh COVID-19 cases on Thursday (January 7).
With the addition of these new cases, the cumulative positive cases in the area have reached 25,673.
No new deaths were reported on Thursday and thus the death toll remained at 787.
For the last few weeks, the area has been witnessing a drop in the number of cases. However, the numbers in the last 24 hours showed a slight increase in positive coronavirus cases.

The number of active cases in the
Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (
MBMC) area now stands at 462.
One person succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 775.
With the inclusion of 19 new positive cases, the cumulative number of cases in the area has gone up to 24,915, while 23,678 infected persons have recovered.
For the past few weeks, the region has been reporting more recoveries than positive cases. On Tuesday, 61 patients were discharged from hospitals and COVID Care Centres post recovery.
