VADODARA: A local court in Narmada district rejected the bail application of Bhavesh Parmar, one of the key accused in the Rs 5 crore Statue of Unity (SoU) cheating case and observed that the accused had committed a serious offence.
According to the public prosecutor, Jitendrasinh Gohil, the court said that the revenues earned by SoU can be termed as public money and siphoning it is a serious offence. The court also observed that if the accused is granted bail then he may commit the offence again.
Investigators said that apart from Parmar, the other three accused Ashish Joshi, Jayraj Solanki and Nimesh Pandya are in judicial custody. The cops said that all the four accused have spent a portion of the siphoned money but they don’t have much network outside the state. “They have bought some properties in Gujarat apart from cars. We are trying to trace the remaining cash but still, there is no clue about it. It is possible that some more persons may be involved in the case,” a
