Bhatkal Gram Panchayat Elections: 853 candidates file nomination papers Bhatkal: December 12, 2020 (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Elections for 16 gram panchayats in Bhatkal taluka are going to be held on December 22 in the first phase for which a total of 853 candidates have filed nomination papers till Friday, the last day for filing nomination papers. While today (Saturday) all these pamphlets will be validated.   According to the details, 14 candidates had filed nomination papers on Monday, the first day, 80 candidates on the second day (Tuesday), 144 candidates on the third day (Wednesday), 276 candidates on the fourth day (Thursday) and the highest number of 339 candidates on Friday had filed nomination papers.

Youth drowns in Tenginagundi Sea Bhatkal Bhatkal: Dec 11, 2020(Bhatkallys News Bureau) A young man who went for a swim in Tenginagundi Sea in Bhatkal this morning has drowned, identified as Muhammad Faisal (24) son of Hafiz-ur-Rehman Dangi. According to reports, Faisal started to swim with his friends at 11:30 am on Friday, but due to his lack of swimming skills, a wave swept him away, after which the swimmers tried to save him but he could not be rescued. The body has been taken to government hospital for autopsy and the body has been handed over to the family members. He is expected to be buried on Saturday.
