LAHORE: The Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) busted a network of Afghanistan-based banned militant organisations in separate intelligence based operations (IOBs) carried out in Rawalpindi and Lahore.
According to sources, the CTD arrested four alleged militants in Rawalpindi, while two others were nabbed in Lahore.
A well-placed source said the banned militant organisations based in Afghanistan had changed their strategy to hit their targets in Pakistan. Instead of dispatching militants from the neighbouring country, they were hiring anti-social elements from northern areas and other parts of Pakistan to carry out terrorist activities here, he said.
The source said the CTD managed to trace the new network and made important arrests from the two main cities of Punjab.
