Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) began operating weekly flights from Bhairahawa to Delhi and Hong Kong via Kathmandu, but both flights departed without any passengers due to no bookings. Bhairahawa, located 400 km southwest of Kathmandu, is not a major city or business center, which is believed to be the reason for the lack of passengers. The Gautam Buddha International Airport, where the flights originated, was recently upgraded to an international airport.
