CASPER, Wyo. The Bar Nunn Fire Department said on Tuesday that Assistant Chief Edgeington, Lieutenant Freeman, and Firefighter Longest have been deployed to Minnesota to assist on forest fires in the northwest region of the state.
They were deployed “to assist with any local incidents and resources.”
“With this assignment, this crew will provide critical added initial attack capacity as forest fire dangers remain elevated,” Bar Nunn Fire said. “Join us in wishing them the best with this assignment and a safe return home.”

ELY - A fire in the Boundary Waters Area Canoe Wilderness, which initially sent smoke plumes into the skies, calmed to a smoldering blaze drifting with the wind on an overcast Thursday.
âThe intensity of the fire has been knocked down,â Superior National Forest spokesperson Tim Engrav told the Mesabi Tribune in a phone interview. âItâs not growing.â
The blaze, named the Bezhik Fire, started on Monday. It burned beneath red and white pines across 10 acres in the La Croix District of the BWCAW, about 15 mile northwest of Ely. The fire spread to 950 acres and was at 10 percent containment on Thursday afternoon, Superior National Forest officials said.
