At least 15 fishermen who ventured into the sea on May 5 from Beypore port in Kozhikode are missing. All of them are natives of Tamil Nadu. The boat Ajmeer Sha which sailed from the shores of Beypore on May 5 is missing and there is no information about any of the fishermen who were in the boat. Meanwhile another boat which went to the sea at the same time from Beypore has reached the Goan coast following some mechanical failure in its engine. This boat Milad-3 also has 15 men from Tamil Nadu and all of them are at 7 nautical miles from Goa. The fishermen organisations have appealed to the Coast Guard and Navy to immediately start rescue operations.

Rescue boat with advanced features to reach Beypore Port on January 29
A marine ambulance, the long awaited emergency service to reach out to fishermen in case of an accident, is going to be a reality in Kozhikode coast. The customised boat made at Cochin Shipyard will reach the Beypore Port on January 29.
According to Fisheries Department officials, the boat will be flagged off from Kochi by Fisheries Minister J. Mercykutty Amma on January 28. The full-time service of two paramedical staff and four rescue guards will be available in the ambulance, they add.

Pinarayi lists development priorities for Kozhikode district
Talks will be held to sort out the issues that were raised after the beautification of S.M. Street in the city, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said.
He was responding to suggestions from people from different walks of life at the Kozhikode district-leg of the ‘Kerala Paryadanam’ (Kerala Tour), an interactive session with people from different walks of life, at the Government Higher Secondary School, Karaparamba, here on Sunday.
