Letters: Do-nothing lawmakers, high cost of insulin

Let s tie lawmakers pay to productivity
The long and complicated Sunday article Battling for life, about America’s high prescription costs (specifically diabetes medicines), is another example why consumers and voters are so frustrated and fed up with how little legislation our state and federal lawmakers ever pass. Wouldn’t it be great if their pay structure was directly connected to their production level?
My dad worked very hard supporting three kids as a 100% commissioned salesman. No sales, no paycheck. If state and federal lawmakers were paid for negotiating, reviewing and actually passing laws, perhaps then, after decades of dysfunction, endless partisanship, filibusters, catering to corporate interests and lobbyists, some actual work would be accomplished.
