(June 1, 2021 / JNS) The National Geographic Society named University of Haifa professor Dr. Aviad Scheinin as one of its “Emerging Explorers” in 2021 one of 15 individuals it described as changing the world “one idea at a time.”

Bernard B. White, 92, of Carthage, TX, passed away on Monday evening, Feb. 8, 2021, in Carthage. He was born on Feb. 1, 1929, in Mt. Pleasant, TX to the late Morris S. and Josie Moore White. Mr. White graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School with the class of 1947, and attended Texas State Teacher’s College in Commerce. He married Dorothy Marie Howell on Aug. 11, 1951, in Bellville, IL and they celebrated 67 years together before she preceded him in death on Jan. 7, 2019. Mr. White served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War from 1950-1954 at which time he was honorably discharged. He worked as a Wireline Engineer for Welex, a division of Haliburton, until his retirement. Bernard was a hamm radio operator, enjoyed fishing and camping, and was a member of the Avion Trailer Club. Mr. White moved to Carthage in 2013, from Katy, TX where he had lived for 34 years. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. White was also preceded in death by a daught
