Mark Grant will end his 23-year career in the saddle at Newton Abbot today as he bows out on the horse who gave him his only winner at Cheltenham.
That success came aboard the Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained Count Meribel in November 2018 and the nine-year-old will be Grant s final ride of his race-riding career when he lines up in the 2m5f handicap chase (5.25). Grant s only other ride is Noble Savage in the maiden hurdle (3.05).
Grant s biggest days came when stable jockey for David Wachman in the early 2000s, partnering the likes of Inexorable and Cane Brake, before moving to England where he teamed up with a number of trainers including Andy Turnell, Nigel Twiston-Davies and Jo Hughes.
