Farmers markets have largely weathered the pandemic, organizers say, and have even added vendors in 2021 as regulations loosen and life begins returning to normal.
“It is vital that this, and all other county farmers markets, continue to feed our communities,” said Beth Irons, the Oneida County Public Market manager in an email. At the height of the pandemic, when many shopping for food and goods found empty shelves, our farmers and producers never ran out of food, Irons said. And they stood ready to feed our families and communities so we made it through 2020 in as healthy a way as possible.”
Oneida Public Market Opens for Summer
The market opened for its tenth anniversary, and will be open every Saturday at Union Station.

The Oneida County Public Market celebrated its tenth anniversary as its summer season opened on Saturday. For the first time this year, vendors set up shop outside Union Station.
Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente and market manager Beth Irons cut the ribbon in front of the market Saturday morning. Picente says a lot of people look forward to the public market because it has so much to offer. You can see lot of people, be outside, see a lot of vendors throughout this community and highlight all we have to offer, Picente said. This setting is what also makes it great. Union station, Baggs Square, it s just a great place to be.
