For Charlotte Lankey, receiving a vaccination for the COVID-19 virus was not a big deal.
After all, Lankey pointed out, she routinely is vaccinated for influenza and pneumonia. This wasnât anything out of the ordinary.
Except that it was, very much so.
On Monday morning, Lankey, registered nurse in the hospitalâs emergency room, became the first employee at UPMC Bedford to receive the Moderna vaccine against the virus that has paralyzed the area, the country and the world since late winter.
There have been anecdotal reports of short-lived adverse reactions to both the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines, but Lankey, of Point, near Schellsburg, said she was not worried.
