The nearly four-month search for a missing Carleton Place man ended on May 12 when he was found deceased. Human remains pulled from the Mississippi River on the outskirts of town belonged to Mathew “Matt” McGrath. The grief and shock Melissa Rainville feels over losing her only sibling has been compounded by the “lack of answers” surrounding McGrath’s disappearance and death.
Eight Lanark County Ontario Provincial Police officers from the Carleton Place Detachment have been awarded the 2024 IODE Police Community Relations Award in recognition of their efforts relating to the Carleton Junction Community Pad.
On Jan. 7, 1,000 cards bearing the word “missing,” in addition to Matt McGrath’s name, picture and information, were distributed to mailboxes in different parts of Carleton Place.
