FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP - Faced with dwindling demand for vaccines, CentraState Medical Center said it will provide COVID-19 vaccines to walk-in patients on Wednesday.
The hospital will offer the first dose of Pfizer-BioNTech shots between 8 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. and again between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. at the hospital s Star and Barry Tobias Ambulatory Campus, Entrance 6, 901 W. Main Street (Route 537). Freehold Township.
The move marks a shift in strategy. Up until now, CentraState, which serves Monmouth, Ocean and Mercer counties, has provided 55,000 COVID vaccine doses through appointments.
The change comes as health providers race to deliver enough shots to stay ahead of variants of the COVID disease that are potentially more contagious. New Jersey is trying to vaccinate 70% of adults, or 4.7 million people, by June 30.
