Expect delays this week on Highway 174

Submitted to The Union Caltrans is alerting motorists of upcoming paving work for the Highway 174 safety improvement project between You Bet Road and Greenhorn Access Road in Nevada County, a news release states. From Tuesday through Friday, contractors are scheduled to begin mainline and driveway paving work throughout the project limits. Driveway access may be intermittently impacted for 30 minutes at a time when paving work is occurring. In addition, work started Friday that requires residents of Bar Ella Ranch Road, 7 Cedars Drive and Jewitt Lane to take short detours along a newly constructed aggregate base road that will connect to Highway 174. This short detour will remain in effect approximately one week until traffic is shifted to the newly widened and paved roadway.

Highway 174 project to resume Monday

Submitted to The Union Caltrans is scheduled to resume construction Monday on a $27.1 million safety improvement project on Highway 174 between Maple Way and You Bet Road in Nevada County. The project, which began in August, is realigning several curves, widening shoulders, adding a southbound left-turn pocket at Greenhorn Access Road and improving the clear recovery zone for errant vehicles to regain control. Traffic-interfering work will be performed during daylight hours, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays. Reversing one-way traffic control will be used to manage traffic with 20-minute delays anticipated. Motorists are reminded that pilot vehicles are to be followed at all times within the project zone for the safety of construction crews and travelers. Lake Tahoe, Sierra and El Dorado County roadwork April 4-10, 2021

Submitted by paula on Sat, 04/03/2021 - 7:17pm SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The following is a list of the long term and short term projects the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has scheduled for the week around Lake Tahoe, in the Sierra and El Dorado County. At this time there is no work scheduled for the South Lake Tahoe area. LONG-TERM PROJECTS U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $53.6 million safety project in the Camino area to replace the existing concrete median barrier and fill in the gaps in the barrier, build an undercrossing, a wildlife crossing, make local road improvements and replace culverts. The project is expected to be completed in 2022. No traffic-interfering work is scheduled on the highway. Westbound Carson Road is closed between Carson Court and Sierra Blanca Road for bridge work. Motorists are being detoured onto westbound Highway 50 and back onto Carson Road.
