WIU Student-Run Media Wins Three Intercollegiate Broadcasting System Media Awards - Western Illinois University News

March 10, 2021 MACOMB, IL Western Illinois University s student-run, broadcast news station, NEWS3, won Best College TV Station, and sports media and NEWS3 won two individual awards on March 6 at the annual Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) Media Awards. I am incredibly proud of the students when they win awards, but especially during a pandemic, which made producing the news more challenging, said Broadcasting and Journalism Instructor and News Director Jessica M. Martin. The resiliency of the students in our program is incredible, and I cannot wait to see what they do next. NEWS3, the student-run television news station, won Best College TV Station overall. Mar 3, 2021 The Tribune Chronicle will receive 15 awards in this year’s statewide Associated Press Media Editors awards, the APME announced Tuesday. The awards in actual order of finish first, second and third places will be announced later along with the General Excellence, Hall of Fame, Rising Star and First Amendment winners. The awards will be announced at a virtual event planned for later this spring. More than 50 daily newspapers in Ohio submitted 1,418 entries in the contest, which featured news and sports stories, features, editorials, columns, graphics and photos from 2020. Entries for this newspaper’s division were judged by editors from The Grand Haven Tribune in Michigan.

In conversation. is an on-going series from the Royal Photographic Society in which leading individuals talk about how they use photography as photographers, artists, scientists, educators, publishers and curators. Marissa Roth is an The New York Times, have taken her around the world. Roth was part of The Los Angeles Times photography staff that won a Pulitzer Prize for Best Spot News, for its coverage of the 1992 Los Angeles Riots. Her work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions and a number of images are in museum, corporate and private collections. One Person Crying: Women and War, Roth’s 35-year personal photo essay that addresses the immediate and lingering impact of war on women in different countries and cultures around the world, is currently an international travelling exhibition, with a forthcoming book.
