THUNDER BAY - It’s been a film at least three years in the making of man whose life has been intriguing people across the region for more than 40 years.
The Thunder Bay Museum recently released In Search of Wendell Beckwith, a documentary film by filmmaker Jim Hyder about the fascinating life of a reclusive man who lived in the Northwestern Ontario wilderness.
“We are really excited about the end product,” said Michael DeJong, curator and archivist with the Thunder Bay Museum. “It has been a labour of love for Jim and his film team to produce this documentary. It feels great to see it come to fruition for sure.”

The year 2020 started with optimism as the Department of Tourism (DoT) aimed to surpass the achievements in 2019 when the tourism industry contributed 12.7 percent to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), of which 10.8 percent came from domestic tourism.
Based on the National Tourism Development Plan (NTDP) 2016-2022 or the blueprint of the national government’s tourism goals, the DoT was supposed to aim for 9.2 million foreign visitor arrivals this year, with inbound revenue projected at P661 billion and generating around six million jobs.

Santorini, a volcanic island in the Cyclades that rests in the middle of the Aegean, has been named for the seventh consecutive year the “Best Island in Europe” at the 2020 Global Traveler Awards.
Furthermore, Greece was named “Favourite Country” for the first time at the awards ceremony, with Ireland and Spain following the Mediterranean country among the most-loved travel destinations.
Following Tahiti, Greece was ranked second among the “Favourite Honeymoon Destinations” in the world.
The party animal of the Cycladic islands, Mykonos, was also named Europe’s third Best Island and ranked seventh in the Best Beaches category.
