The love for lockdown global hit Normal People continues after the show was nominated for two Golden Globes. The series, filmed in Sligo and Dublin and produced by Ireland’s Element Pictures, landed a nomination in the coveted Best Limited Series or TV Film category. British actress Daisy Edgar-Jones, who played Marianne in the series, was also nominated for Best Actress, Limited Series - but Maynooth actor Paul Mescal was a surprise omission in the Best Actor category.
The star, who is currently filming Carmen on location in Australia, was widely expected by pundits to be nominated.
Brendan Gleeson’s terrifying turn as Trump in mini-series The Comey Rule also landed him a nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Miniseries. Gleeson starred opposite Jeff Daniels in the show, based on the memoirs of former FBI director James Comey.
