COVID-19 UPDATE (MONDAY)
Medical Officer, DR. Jennifer Russel says extensive contact tracing work and
the cooperation of residents has limited the risk of community transmission
in those regions.
Moncton region will stay red for now. Public Helath says it hopes to be able
to recomend the other health zones; Bathurst, Campbellton and Miramichi,
return to the yellow phase later this week.
Meanwhile Dr. Russel announced 27 new confirmed cases in New Brusnwick on Monday,
with four of those in Moncton, one in Saint John, three in Federicton, and 19
in the Edmundston-Grand Falls halth zone. Public Health is also reporting a
FREDERICTON Bertha Higgs, the mother of New Brunswick Premier Blaine Higgs, passed away Monday at the age of 100. The news was made public on Twitter by Higgs s chief of staff, Louis Leger. Mrs. Higgs celebrated her 100th birthday on Dec. 31, 2020, at her home in Forest City, N.B., close to the border with Maine. The premier has said his mother was a school teacher and that up until Grade 6, his teachers were either his mother or his aunt. Higgs has said his mother was very inquisitive and would always ask him about what was happening in the province. Details on funeral arrangements will be forthcoming.

Louis Léger, the premier s chief of staff, tweeted that Bertha Higgs died Monday morning. We all join in expressing our condolences to the Premier, the Higgs family, and the many lives that she touched, Léger wrote.
Bertha Higgs celebrated her 100th birthday at her Forest City home on Dec. 31, surrounded by family, according to Premier Higgs s Facebook page.
