Donnelly Interview: Minister defends vaccines and lays out jab timeline
Health Minister Stephen Donnelly, in an exclusive interview, yesterday insisted no frontline workers have been deprived of the vaccine to ensure that the residential care system is fully vaccinated.
In a passionate defence of his tenure, Mr Donnelly hit out at the opposition for politicising the vaccine roll-out. He also confronted some of the criticism that has come from the opposition on the roll-out and reinforced a Government pledge to have the entire Irish population vaccinated by September.
‘We will be doing more and more communications but the initial focus had to be getting vaccines into people’s arms.’ Confirming a plan to have daily updates on vaccination figures and on the Covid tracker app, Donnelly also insisted that the roll-out is being done in an equitable a way as possible based on operational decisions by the HSE.
