David Benavidez? Nope. Caleb Plant? Nope. Demetrius Andrade? Nope. Billy Joe Saunders? Nope? Not even a third contest with Gennadiy Golovkin would truly pique Bernard Hopkin’s interest. If it was up to the newly inducted hall of famer, only one fighter’s name should be mentioned above all others in terms of who Canelo Alvarez should face next.
“There’s one fighter I want to see him fight, Jermall Charlo,” said Hopkins during an interview with FightHype. “Nothing else matters to me right now.”
For the former multiple division belt holder, he’s still getting used to life without Alvarez. For years the pound-for-pound star was represented by Golden Boy Promotions, a company Hopkins is apart of. Although Hopkins helped Alvarez and the promotional company in its efforts in making some of the biggest fights possible for Alvarez, a showdown with WBC middleweight belt holder Jermall Charlo never came to fruition.

Gennady Golovkin pummels Kamil Szeremeta to defend middleweight title
GENNADY GOLOVKIN did exactly what was expected when he hammered his IBF mandatory challenger,
Kamil Szeremeta of Poland, to defeat in seven one-sided rounds inside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
There were four knockdowns in what was 38-year-old Golovkin’s 21
st successful middleweight overall title defence across various reigns and sanctioning bodies. On paper, it means that the Kazak has now recorded more winning defences than any middleweight champion. But with so many alphabet belts available (including that impossible to follow WBA title in all its diluted guises) and undeserving challengers like Szeremeta around, those screaming that “GGG” is a bona fide record breaker with this latest victory are doing a disservice to the division’s long and illustrious history.

Gennady Golovkin turned in a superb performance, as he dealt with his mandatory challenger, Kamil Szeremeta in style, defending his IBF and IBO Middleweight titles with a ruthless display, dropping his man four times en route to a retirement after seven rounds.
Golovkin (41-1-1, 36 KOs) defended his crown for the 21st time, surpassing the great Bernard Hopkins’ record, dismantling the game Szeremeta (21-1, 5 KOs).
’Triple G’ began off a stiff jab that reddened the challenger’s face as early as the first two minutes of the opener, and, after a left uppercut from ‘GGG’ seemed to stiffen the Pole, the Kazakh exploded into life with a big left hand from a crouched position landing flush to drop the challenger right on the bell.
