The owner of Ann Sather’s Restaurants who was Chicago’s first openly-gay alderperson is leaving the workplace he called “not a good place to work these days.”
Five-term Ald. Tom Tunney (44th), chairman of the Zoning Committee, told the Sun-Times he plans to take some time during the council’s August recess before deciding whether to call it quits or even run for mayor.
“It helps the player to be named later,” said Peter Giangreco, a political strategist whose client, U.S. Rep. Mike Quigley, joined former U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan in passing up a run against Mayor Lori Lightfoot.
