Now, tonights program is unlike any other president ial debate in history were making history now and its pretty exciting. An independent polling firm has selected an audience of 209 uncommitted voters from this area. The candidates will be asked questions by these voters on a topic of their choosing anything they want to ask about. My job as moderator is to, you know, take care of the questioning, ask questions myself, if i think there needs to be continuity and balance, and sometimes i might ask the candidates to respond to what another candidate may have said. Now, the format has been agreed to by representatives of both the republican and democratic campaigns. And there is no subject matter that is restricted anything goes, we can ask anything. Life affirming story. Reporter clay had cancer four times over 17 years. I was his care giver and we had a lot of wonderful times we move from new york to california. My father who was a funeral director in southwest georgia and among other Things Services for people who needed to be transported to doctors. My father would often ask me to go with him to help because at age five i was curious. There was one black doctor in southwest georgia 40 miles south of brinkley where he lived so high, from age five was determined i want to be like dr. Griffin. An africanamerican physician. He was very successful and highly respected in the community. People really thought he was a great citizen but to me he was a magician. He could make people well. I decided that was what i wanted to do so thats what i decided at age five. I love science and i love working with people so being a doctor combines both of those very well.
