The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has announced 191 new cases of COVID-19 as of Thursday, bringing the local total to 5,203.
Cases increased from 5,012 on Wednesday December 16th to 5,203 on Thursday December 17th and 952 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.

The Health Unit says 32 cases are related to outbreaks, 20 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 4 cases are community acquired, and 103 cases are still under investigation.
They say 4,160 people locally have recovered (an increase of 129 recoveries today).
There have been 3 additional deaths from COVID-19 as of Thursday bringing the local death toll to 94. Health Unit CEO Theresa Marentette says a man in his 70s, a woman in her 80s, and a man in his 90s, all residents of long-term care, passed away.
