Three former officials of the Alsace Manor Fire Company face a host of charges related to the purchase of a tanker truck and operating bingo and games of chance without a license, the Berks County District Attorneyâs office reported Thursday.
Charged are former fire company president Scott Allen Moyer, 54, of Temple; former fire chief and treasurer Wendy L. Becker, 53, of Blandon; and secretary Kelly Brown, 38, of Blandon.
On Tuesday, Berks County detectives filed charges of theft by deception, fabricating evidence, tampering with financial records and hindering prosecution with District Judge Steven Chieffo in Oley.

Chieffo issued arrest warrants for Moyer and Becker, while Brownâs charges were to be served by summons.

The suspects are accused of scamming more than two dozen people from multiple states out of more than $240,000, according to investigators.

READING, Pa. Five Bronx, New York men were arrested and charged with multiple counts of theft by deception and criminal conspiracy for their alleged roles in a grandparent phone scam that victimized a 67-year-old California man and dozens of others late last year, according to the Berks County District Attorney s Office.
Jesus Cruz, 20, of Boyertown, was charged with trafficking heroin/fentanyl that resulted in death.
Cruz, who is in Berks County Prison, had been charged in December with possession and sale of heroin, carrying a firearm without a license and criminal use of a communications device in relation to the incident.

After detention in the Berks County Sheriffâs Department central processing center, Cruz was arraigned Feb. 23 before District Judge Michael G. Hartman. The amount of his bail was not available.
Keyaira Nunez-Trego, 28, described in court documents as Cruzâs girlfriend, was charged with possession of illegal drugs with intent to deliver and criminal conspiracy. She is expected to turn herself in to authorities.
An argument inside Diamonds Lounge in Cumru Township early Friday turned into gunfire outside, ending with one person killed and three injured. There must be 15 to 20 shell casings down there, Cumru Police Chief Madison Winchester said from the township building. It s a big crime scene, from the front parking lot to the back and sides.
The dead person and one of the victims were from the Lancaster area, and two other victims were from the Reading area, police said, but their names were not yet available. The death occurred at Reading Hospital.

Acting Coroner Jonn M. Hollenbach said the family of the deceased has been notified and the police or the DA s office would be releasing the name.
