Benue State Government has released funds for the mass production of face masks for distribution to all pupils and students in schools across the state as part of measures to check the spread of COVID-19 among students in the state.
The Commissioner for Education Prof. Dennis Ityavyar made the disclosure yesterday when he led heads of parastatals under the Ministry to schools in the state in continuation of his monitoring of the level of compliance with COVID-19 safety protocols in the schools.
While stressing that the gesture of the government would complement the efforts of parents to check the spread the Commissioner advised Teachers to ensure that pupils and students observed safety protocols to prevent them from contracting the virus warning that “this second wave of the virus is deadlier than the first.
Benue govt distributes 15,000 chairs, tables to schools worth N433.5million

Benue State Government has commenced the distribution of 15,000 plastic chairs and tables to Basic schools in the state valued at over N433.5million.
The Executive Chairman of Benue State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, Comrade Utse Joseph who flagged off the distribution at the Ministry of Energy, Science and Technology in Makurdi said the administration of Governor Samuel Ortom had earlier procured and distributed 10,000 plastic chairs and tables to Basic schools in the state.
He lauded the Governor for showing concern for the Benue child at the grassroots by furnishing schools in those areas to make sure that the pupils do not sit on the bare floor to learn.

An Abuja High Court presided over by Justice K. N. Ogbonnaya has issued a garnishee order against the Benue state government funds in all the state accounts and those of its parastatals over a judgement debt of N1.148billion.
Affected by the order were 23 bank accounts being operated by the state government and its parastatals in seven commercial banks.
Briefing newsmen Thursday in Makurdi about the development, Commissioner for Information, Mrs Ngunan Addingi, and his counterpart in the Ministry of Justice, Micheal Gusa said the order had crippled all activities in the state.
The order was a sequel to an application brought before the court by Julianna Igweka and 95 others against the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board and the Attorney General of the state.
