Country and Western in Camden burns early Friday morning
A defining landmark business in Camden suffered major damage in a fire early Friday morning.
Camden Fire Department responded to a call a little after 12:30 a.m. on Friday about a fire at the Country and Western Restaurant, an establishment that’s been in business in Downtown Camden for more than 30 years.
“I’m 54, and the building has been there for as long as I can remember,” said Camden Fire Chief Jeff Pierce. “I think it was a furniture store before the restaurant went in, but the restaurant has been there for a long time.”

BENTON COUNTY, Tenn. Controversy in Benton County after major changes were made in the election commission.
“I’m not sure why you would go against the will of the people in order to disturb things that are working well,” said Matt Jones, Chair of the Benton County Republican Party.
The Benton County Election Commission is made up of five appointed members three Republicans, and two Democrats.
The process is complicated, but essentially, names have to be submitted to the state election commission by the county’s representatives.
The state election commission then appoints the members of the county election commission.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - In Tennessee, there is not a statewide mask mandate, but that has not stopped some Mid-South Mayors from taking matters into their own hands.
“We’re going to continue to drive this message that we need all the counties in West Tennessee to pass a mask mandate,” Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris said.
That message seems to be working.
After Mayor Harris’ plea to mayors in West Tennessee to pass a mask mandate last week, Benton County Mayor Brett Lashlee implemented one for his rural county.
