Mirani MP Stephen Andrew has called out a “dangerous” section of road leading up to the Dalrymple Bay and Hay Point Coal Terminals, demanding further action before a life is lost.
Mr Andrew has sponsored a petition to Queensland Parliament, on behalf of Mackay resident Kay Cole, which calls for an urgent upgrade to the Benson and Hay Point Rd T-intersection.
The petition states the road is in a 100km/h zone without a turning lane into Benson Road T-intersection.
“The residents of Benson Rd, Coles Hill Dr, Fenech Ave, Jamae Ct and Biddle Ct are in danger of collision, injury and damage to property when turning into Benson Rd during peak periods as vehicles pass at speed on the left shoulder of the road in dirt and gravel,” the petition states.
