NEGROS ORIENTAL, Feb. 22 (PIA) Silliman University (SU) will conduct a financial education program for fisherfolks in the key marine biodiversity areas covering the coastline of the 13 municipalities and cities in Southern Negros.
It has been noted that fisherfolks have consistently been among the poorest sectors in the country, as they face the harsh impact of typhoon, fish kill, and marine degradation, among others.
With this, the government has partnered with SU, BDO Unibank Inc., and US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Fish Right Program to launch a massive financial education campaign for fishermen.
