Sandia coaster getting bumpy reception

The Wiegand Alpine Coaster. (Courtesy Wiegand Sports) Hundreds of New Mexicans have chimed in during a public comment period the Cibola National Forest held as part of the approval process for a mountain coaster at the Sandia Peak Ski Area. More than 1,700 people and counting have written comments about the proposal, and the vast majority of them are critical of the coaster, according to a Journal review. “If we built a mechanical bull ride at the top of the Sandias, yes, more people may go up there, but at what cost to the land/view?” Jonathan Yales asked. ...................... “I oppose building a roller coaster on sacred lands, you wouldn’t think to stick a roller coaster in Vatican city, it would be abhorrent,” Colette Scaff wrote. “This is equally so.”
