About that Party Finder app: it’s easy to criticize people that are going to flaunt the regulations to have a good time. But asking young people to put another year of their life on hold for a virus that doesn’t kill them is absurd. Do remember how long a year lasts when you’re 19? You change as a person in an entire year.
A public health response that makes sense would appreciate human nature and ethics. Our public health response in the USA has been technocratic and dehumanizing. And then we wonder why we get bad results.

Vaccinations will take off in the Biden administration. Like competent, responsible professionals they publicly predict worst or near-worst case. You don’t promise what you’re not sure you can deliver in a catastrophe like this. Not if you’re ethical. But we’ll be going from malicious incompetents to people who see COVID as their #1 priority and were chosen for being some of the most competent in the world. I don’t have the expertise to predict the details, but I don’t need expertise to know the difference will be huge.
EDIT – I’ll be honest, we’re up shit creek until the 20th.

The number of doses of the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine in the next shipments that will be sent to Massachusetts will be drastically reduced, by almost a third, according to the state.
A spokesperson for the state’s COVID-19 Command Center confirmed reports Friday in a statement that Massachusetts is among the states that were notified Wednesday by the federal government to expect smaller vaccine shipments next week.
“The Command Center has been notified by the federal government, in addition to many other states, that its next shipments of the first doses of Pfizer vaccines has been reduced from 60,000 to about 42,900 doses,” the statement reads. “The Command Center is in communication with the CDC to learn more about when additional shipments are arriving.”
