MARINETTE, Wis. A couple walking on their wooded property in the town of Athelstane on Saturday afternoon found the remains of a Milwaukee man missing since 2018.
The remains of 54-year-old Benjamin D. Bodwin appeared to have been hanging from a tree for some time, Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve stated in a news release Monday.
Bodwin last had been seen in August 2018, after walking away from his disabled vehicle at an Athelstane business. No foul play is suspected and the medical examiner has ruled the death a suicide, Sauve said in the release. The man’s family has been notified.

MARINETTE, Wis. A missing-persons case from 2018 has been cleared following the identification of human remains found in Wisconsin’s Marinette County on Saturday.
The remains, which according to a Marinette County Sheriff’s Office release “had been there for quite some time,” were discovered by the owners of a wooded parcel in Athelstane Township as they walked the property.
MCSO investigators determined that the remains were that of Benjamin D. Bodwin, 54, of Milwaukee.
Bodwin was last seen in August 2018 after leaving his broken-down vehicle at a business in Athelstane.
No foul play is suspected, police said. The Marinette County medical examiner ruled that Bodwin died by suicide, officials said in the release. The sheriff’s office was assisted by Marinette County Central Dispatch and the Athelstane Fire Department.

ATHELSTANE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) The case of a missing man from Milwaukee has been cleared after his body was discovered in Marinette County over the weekend.
A couple walking on their wooded property in the town of Athelstane Saturday afternoon reported human remains hanging from a tree. It was apparent the remains had been there for quite some time, officials say.
It was determined the human remains belonged to 54-year-old Benjamin D. Bodwin of Milwaukee. He was last seen in August of 2018 after leaving his broken-down vehicle at a business in Athelstane.
No foul play is suspected and the medical examiner ruled Bodwin’s death to be a suicide.

Sheriff’s officers investigating determined these remains were those of Benjamin D. Bodwin of Milwaukee, WI. He had been last seen in August of 2018 after leaving his broken-down vehicle at a business in Athelstane. Bodwin would have been 54 years old when he went missing.
The family of the deceased has been notified, and foul play is not suspected. The Medical Examiner has ruled this death to be suicide.
