A Galesburg man was sentenced to 20-years in federal prison on Tuesday on charges of possession with intent to distribute ice meth and possessing a firearm as a felon. 29-year-old Benjamin Norville pleaded guilty in May to possession with intent to distribute at least 50 grams of ice methamphetamine, possession of a firearm as a felon, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. Norville was arrested by Galesburg Police in January of 2020, passed out in a running vehicle that possessed at least two loaded and stolen firearms, several types of narcotics. The government noted in making their case that this was Norville's seventh felony and sixth meth-related conviction. Norville had been on parole since May 2020 on a three-year sentence for possessing meth manufacturing materials. Chief U.S. District Judge Sara Darrow found that Norville posed a high risk of recidivism and stated that his sentence needed to reflect the seriousness of his offense.
