GM s Lansing Delta Township/Lansing Regional Stamping plant, which builds the Chevrolet Traverse and Buick Enclave and employs 2,500 people, will remain open.
The Lansing Grand River plant is not the first GM facility to shut down due to the shortage; the San Luis Potosi Assembly plant in Mexico, which employs over 4,000 workers, has been down since Feb. 8. It is expected to come back online beginning the week of April 5.
GM s Fairfax Assembly and Stamping Plant in Kansas City and CAMI in Ingersoll, Ontario, were also closed last month and are not expected to open until mid-April.
As of Thursday, over 11,000 GM employees were affected by shortage-related shutdowns.
