The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office will honor the memory of Deputy Benjamin Franklin Hill with a dedication ceremony on Sunday, May 9th at 1 p.m. at the Highland Cemetary (1005 N. Hillside Ave.)
Benjamin Franklin Hill, also known as Frank Hill, was born May 9th, 1876, and was killed in the line of duty during an attempted jailbreak at the Sedgwick County Historical Courthouse on August 1th, 1927.
Last year, it was learned that Deputy Hill’s gravesite did not have a headstone to mark his final resting place, and the Greater Wichita Ministerial League and the Honore Adversis Foundation donated the required funds to procure one.
