JAMB decries use of logo by fraudulent exam centres

Daily Post Nigeria Published The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has decried the fraudulent activities of cybercafés and tutorial centre operators who specialise in deceiving candidates, using the board’s insignia and name. The exam board in a statement by its Head of Public Affairs, Dr. Fabian Benjamin said criminal elements dupe students under the guise of registering them for the 2021/22 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) application. ”It is a criminal offence for one to use the exam bodys’ name and logo when one is not licensed by the Board to do so for any reason, ” Dr. Fabian warned.

FG summons ASUU to emergency meeting over looming strike

Daily Post Nigeria Published The federal government has invited the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to an urgent meeting. Bem Goong, Director Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Education, announced the parley in a statement on Monday. Goong said the Education Minister, Adamu Adamu will chair the meeting on the union’s “threat to embark on another round of strike” “The emergency meeting is to hold tomorrow, the 6th of April 2021 at 11:00 am in the Ministry’s Headquarters in Abuja”, it read. ASUU had called off a nine-month-old strike in January 2020. In March, the body accused the government of refusal to implement some agreements reached with it.

Tension in UNIBEN over suspension of SUG Excos

Share Palpable tension pervades the University of Benin, UNIBEN, as the National Association of Nigerian Students (NAN), Zone B, on Thursday, issued a 72-hour ultimatum to the management of the university to reverse its suspension of the executive council of the institution’s Students Union Government (SUG) or face mass protest. UNIBEN management, it would be recalled, had on Tuesday, dissolved the SUG executive council and installed a caretaker committee in its place, after which it ordered the students to vacate their halls of residence for a three-week break, ending on April 18,202. Tue halls of residence are expected to be used for the 20th National Sports Festival, tagged “Edo 2020”, to be hosted by Edo State from April 6 through April 14.
