SAIPAN, CNMI (Saipan Tribune, Jan. 16, 2013) – The Senate and Rep. Janet U. Maratita (IR-Saipan) and Sen. Ray A. Yumul (IR-Saipan) have amended their lawsuit against Northern Marianas’ Gov. Benigno R. Fitial, former attorney general Edward T. Buckingham, Commonwealth Utilities Corp. (CUC), and Saipan Development LLC (SDLLC) over an alleged illegal $190.8-million power purchase agreement deal.
Attorney Ramon K. Quichocho, counsel for plaintiffs Senate, Maratita and Yumul, told Saipan Tribune yesterday that Gov. Benigno R. Fitia s recent public announcement that the controversial power purchase agreement is void is a step in the right direction.
