welcome back. mitt romney has kept a relatively low profile since 2012. he s here now to share the state of the union as he sees it. former massachusetts governor and 2012 republican presidential nominee, mitt romney, joins us now. governor romney, thanks so much for joining us. thanks, jake. good to be with you. so you just heard hillary clinton. she s testifying in the next few days to the benghazi committee. she says republicans in congress have quote admitted that the panel s overwhelming focus is to drive down her poll numbers. is she right? well, there are two parts of the benghazi hearing, and i think she s been trying to conflate the two. one of course was what her role was in not providing security in benghazi to protect our ambassador. the committee wants to make sure those mistakes are not made
way. but she s got some questions to answer even though she said she answered them. i don t think the benghazi hearing is about ben guzy ghazi all. i think it is about hillary. is she honest? is she trust worthy? she had a great night tuesday night. with the controversy and lawyer-like responses, people forgot she is actually a very formidable well-informed polished candidate. but the big issue in the hearing is, does she come in and say this is all a right wing conspiracy and right swing attack or whatever it is, that s what the democrats will say. or does she sound honest, sound transparent. this sound silly, but sound genuine. if she comes in and sounds honest and transparent and open about exactly what happened,
such a head start and did really well in that debate. but, of course, biden s people are saying, their going to make up their own mind. it doesn t have anything to do with how hillary clinton is doing, how she does either in the debate or in that benghazi hearing, which we ll see next week. we ll just have to wait and see. but my goodness, everyone is waiting to see what joe biden is going to do. they certainly are. nia-malika henderson, thank you, as always, we appreciate it. thank you. well, that was hillary clinton speaking earlier today in alabama. everyone in washington and in the political circle certainly watching, for what joe biden might do. hillary clinton, though, did sit down exclusively with our jake tapper yesterday and gave her thoughts on the vice president s decision ma decision-making process. reporter: that s right. i m in beautiful keene, new hampshire, in the first-in-the-nation primary state, the granite state where hillary clinton just pulled ahead of ber
so far, nothing has come up. think think she is playing this very smart. caylee, do you see that what has transpired within the last couple of weeks as it pertains to hillary clinton, her e-mails, benghazi, that might take the wind out of the sails of those who were planning on pressing her very hard this week. there are ample things to ask hillary clinton. i completely disagree. this hasn t gone on long enough. during the last benghazi hearing, with he found out about can had hillary clinton s private e-mail server. there air lot of questions to ask her. why are there four dead americans on her watch? there are a lot of questions. this isn t politicized, poorly worded statement but not political. there are a lot of things to ask her. the nra has its beef with hillary clinton for her strong words against the gun lobby. is she at war with the nra? what s happening here? yes, absolutely. i think she should be. every democratic political candidate would be stupid not to go after t
today, the clinton campaign saying in part the committee s focus on huma is additional evidence that the attack of benghazi and lessons about how we might better protect diplomats serving in dangerous places are the last things on the committee s mind. and today benghazi hearing was aimed at finding out what happened on the night of september 11th, 2012 when four americans including our u.s. ambassador chris stevens were murdered. did lawmakers get the answer they were looking for? benghazi select committee member westmoreland goes on the record. thank you for being here, sir. thank you for having me. as far as you can tell is huma abedin honest and fort worth in answering all the questions you put to her. i think she is a very nice lady and she was forthcoming. there is things she couldn t recall and couldn t remember. these things happened four years ago. i think she tried to answer every question. when you say the things she couldn t remember, do you believe that she legit
