democratic debate and joe biden deciding not to get in the race, and this was the third of three big challenges this month, and for her to emerge from it without any news or bombshell, new piece of information emerging is tremendous. this will be a really helpful sort of injection of energy into her campaign. so so, no, this hearing went about as clinton would have wanted it to. she got a little snippy perhaps naturally towards the end of those 11 hours, both trey gowdy and hillary clinton and elijah cummings, the ranking democrat who were sort of sniping at each other, but there were no bad moments, no the new pieces of information that are going to damage her politically that appeared to be revealed yesterday she mostly kept her cool and the democrats lined up around her and were able to attack republicans on her behalf, as her proxy and the republicans kept up very aggressive questioning the whole time. hard to see how minds were changed which may be the ultimate barometer her
to make in the speech? and this is a speech that is really for the people in the room. it really is a speech, it s her best opportunity yet in iowa to make her case for why she wants to talk about all of everything that she s heard from iowa voters, very literally, what she s heard them tell her their concern about the problems that keep them up at night. she s got real solutions to them and she wants to prove to them that she s the person in the campaign that can make a difference in their lives. that she s the person who will hang in there and fight for them and who will get something done. so i wouldn t expect a lot of new news. this is her making her best case to iowa as to why she s going to be the person who s going to do that for them. and we ve talked a lot about the benghazi hearing, but there was another hearing on capitol hill and it was with the director of the fbi. let me play you a clip and get

and that was new and yet it was buried, along with the fact that there had been 600 requests for security upgrades at the embassy, that she had left, her quote, security people handle, if that pesky little problem doesn t deserve her attention. and yet, all of that was buried by the spiteful, nasty attitude of many of the republicans who also by the way, kept alot of news to the end of the hearing when only die-hards were watching. jon: on that point, judy, i want to highlight what kimberly strassel wrote in today s wall street journal her article was titled, she, meaning mrs. clinton, she knew all along. refers to the email you talked about, email apparently sent to daughter chelsea within couple hours of the attack. er email reads, according to strassel, two of our officers were killed in benghazi by al qaeda-like group. mrs. clinton doesn t hedge in the email or it seems or it appears.
