MEMBERS of the Mid-Worcestershire and Vale Green Party have called for a shuttle bus and bike hire scheme to be introduced to help residents access the town centre while the Port Street roadworks are taking place in Evesham. Work got underway earlier this month to make improvements to Port Street and at the Waterside/Port Street Junction, as part of county council’s plan to relieve congestion in the town centre. A letter addressed to Worcestershire County Council has been signed by Bob Rhodes, candidate for Evesham South County division and Ed Cohen, Wychavon Councillor for Evesham South District Ward.

MID Worcestershire Conservatives have revealed their candidates who will be standing in May’s county council elections. Three candidates have been chosen by party members to contest the seats of Evesham North West, Evesham South and Harvington. The candidates selected are: Peter Griffiths for Evesham North West, Martin King for Evesham South and Laura Gretton for Harvington. Mr Griffiths has lived and worked in Evesham since 1976. He is a quantity surveyor and is a former Chairman of Evesham Round Table and has represented Evesham North on Wychavon District Council since 2019. Mr Griffiths said: “I live here, I work here and experience and understand all of the local issues.
