Czech Rep., May 13 (BD) – Since May 4th, vaccinated people traveling to the Czech Republic from medium and high-risk countries have not been required to present a negative test for Covid-19. However, this does not apply to those who received their vaccination outside the Czech Republic.
Health Minister Petr Arenberger justified this decision by arguing that it was impossible to verify the authenticity of certificates issued by other Member States. He referred to the latest Europol report, which urges increased vigilance among Member States and third-party countries of the possible involvement of criminals in the vaccine development and distribution process.
From May 15th, travel between the Czech Republic and six other Central European countries could be simplified for those who have already received the Covid-19 vaccine. Health Minister Petr Arenberger discussed the plan at a press conference after the government meeting on Monday. The final decision should take place on Friday.

Czech Rep., May 12 (BD) – During the press conference after the government meeting on Monday, Health Minister Petr Arenberger said that Covid-19 certifications will make travel much easier. Based on bilateral agreements, vaccinated citizens of certain Central European countries may be able to enter the Czech Republic without further restriction from Saturday, May 15th. Countries included in the proposal include Hungary, Germany, Poland, Austria, Slovakia, and Slovenia.

Czech Rep., May 11 (BD) – Minor adjustments to the anti-coronavirus measures will take effect from today. Spa services will open to self-payers and antigen tests will now be enough to allow guests. Also, other health and beauty care services involving skin treatment will be able to return to work, under the same conditions.
Vice-Chairman of the Pirate Party, Ondřej Profant, has proposed deleting gender data from ID cards, which he argues would make life easier for trans and non-binary people. The proposal was included in an amendment to legislation currently in the Chamber of Deputies that would update citizen ID cards with biometric data, following EU requirements.

Czech Rep., May 11 (BD) – Pirate Party MP Ondřej Profant has proposed removing gender data from identity cards in order to better protect citizens’ personal data, in an amendment to the Identity Cards Bill discussed in the Committee on Public Administration and Regional Development on April 30th.

Czech Rep., May 10 (BD) – The Principality of Liechtenstein is to open a consulate in the Czech Republic for the first time, based in Brno. Michal Růžička, a media representative for the government of the Central European microstate in the Czech Republic, stated that the aim in establishing the honorary consulate is to strengthen the rich ties between the two countries in culture, education, and economy, especially in South Moravia, and to create a basis for deeper cooperation that could overcome the difficulties of the past.
