(KTVZ) Starting this week, Bend-La Pine Schools celebrate the graduations of more than 1,200 seniors from the district’s seven high schools. “We are thrilled to honor the Class of 2021 and their many accomplishments at our in-person graduation ceremonies,” said Lora Nordquist, interim superintendent. Graduations will occur at the following times and locations: Bend Senior High School (389 graduates): Thursday, June 3, at 6 p.m. at Bend High Bend Tech Academy at Marshall High School (28 graduates): Monday, June 6, at 6 p.m. at Marshall High La Pine High School (84 graduates): Friday, June 4, at 6 p.m. at La Pine High

Bend-La Pine Schools again honor graduating seniors with billboards BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) This week, contractors are giving several area billboards graduation makeovers to celebrate the Class of 2021. First conceived of for the Class of 2020, each high school billboard will feature individual photographs of the school’s graduating seniors. “We’re pleased to again honor our graduating seniors with a highly visible display of congratulations,” said Interim Superintendent Lora Nordquist. “When we received such positive feedback from families and the community last year, we knew we wanted to recognize the Class of 2021 with this fun showcase.”  Community members can spot the billboards at the following locations:

SELCO Community Credit Union Awards 47 SPARK! Creative Learning Grants Worth $42,000 to 38 Oregon Schools

SELCO Community Credit Union, through its annual SPARK! Creative Learning Grants program, has awarded more than $42,000 to 47 educators across Oregon. The program, which provides funding for innovative educational and extracurricular projects, provides grants of as much as $1,000 to K-12 educators across the 27 Oregon counties that SELCO serves. The SPARK! program has long supported teachers who have creative classroom ideas but lack the funds to get those projects off the ground. This year’s program was specifically aimed at helping educators meet the unexpected and evolving challenges of the 2020-21 school year. In all, 38 Oregon schools are represented among 47 diverse programs. The 2020-21 grant projects include a philanthropy project in Gold Hill, a virtual reality art program in Culver and an interactive learning space to explore the lifecycle of salmon and trout in Gervais.
