Yehuda Guetta, from Jerusalem, a student at the Itamar yeshiva, died aged 19, early Thursday after doctors fought for his life for three days. His killer, Palestinian terrorist Muntasir Shalabi, 44, who fired from a moving van at a group of youths at the Tapuach junction, was captured soon after. His second victim Benaya Peretz, 19, from Beit She’an, is still in an emergency ward after taking a shot to his spine. A third victim, Michai Hala, from Safed, was discharged from hospital. All three were about to be conscripted for military service.
The Shin Bet Security Agency said that Shalabi, who was found hiding in a building in Silwad, a village in the Ramallah region, had been slightly injured after the attack, when soldiers fired at his van as it fled the scene. He had just returned from a long stay in the United States and may hold American citizenship.
