Red wave in Western Pennsylvania ring counties leaves Allegheny a blue island

A red wave that has been building in Southwestern Pennsylvania for a decade broke loose, washing over the region with a vengeance Tuesday, leaving only Allegheny County reliably blue when the votes were counted. In statewide judicial races that topped the ballot, Republican candidates who carried the day outpolled Democrats

Poll: Economy, mistrust of government, covid-19 continue to drive voters decisions

Lewis McClain vividly remembers the double-digit mortgage rates of the early 1980s, and the 83-year-old Edinboro Democrat is afraid the country is headed in that direction again. “I don’t agree with all this stimulus money giveaway,” McClain said. “All of this is going to be very inflationary. Greensburg Civic Theatre to present Shakespeare in his abridged and revised form

An abridged and revised production will take on all of William Shakespeare s plays this weekend both to a live audience and via a live stream. “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) [Revised]” replaces Greensburg Civic Theatre s intended spring production, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Director Vince D Angelo said the planned production had a large cast, which presented difficulties because of the pandemic.  The Oakmont resident suggested the new show because it requires few cast members, and works perfectly for a show in which the actors will wear clear masks on stage. The play features all 37 of Shakespeare’s plays, meant to be performed in 97 minutes by three actors. The play is fast-paced, witty and physical. Written by Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield, The Complete Works is full of laughter and is geared for both Shakespeare lovers and haters.

Diamond in the Rough

“But for some people, I guess that’s just not good enough: Crenshaw is expected to win everything. And pretty soon, the kid himself starts to believe that, lets it prey on his mind. I mean, you’d think he was kind of half-psycho anyway, always talking about ‘going into a trance when I get on those old courses in the East,’ half-pretending that he’s battling Harry Vardon for the U.S. Open of ought-something-or-other. So this bit about winning really starts to bother him. On the outside, he’s all confidence. He tells me he thinks he’s capable of winning any tournament, that he proved that in San Antonio. But you just know that all the publicity pressure is on his mind, and that every time he tees it up, he’s telling himself, ‘Now, just don’t do anything stupid, just don’t take the gas and look like a fool.’ So, of course, he blows a few tournament leads like in the Canadian Open when he dumped a shot into the water hazard on the 16th hole and he becomes so
